UTICA, NY- The Utica College women’s hockey team jumped up one spot to No. 9 in the latest D3hockey.com and USCHO.com polls, released Monday.

Despite being idle this past weekend, the Pioneers moved up in the polls after previous No. 9 ranked Lake Forrest went 1-1 on the opening weekend of play. UC picked up 29 points in the d3hockey.com poll, and 23 in the USCHO.com poll.

The top five remained the same, as Plattsburgh State is the unanimous No. 1 in both polls, followed by Wisconsin-River Falls, Elmira, Middlebury, and Adrian.

Utica had a strong showing in its exhibition game, downing the Toronto Midget Aeros 6-2 on Oct. 23. Five different players scored in the win.

The Pioneers travel to Buffalo State this weekend for a key ECAC West conference match up to open the season. The teams split their series last season. Game times are set for 4 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
