POTSDAM, N.Y.-Following a weekend sweep of SUNY Cortland, SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey players Jordan Ott (Hilton, N.Y./Rochester Edge) and Delphine Léonard (Montreal, Quebec/Dawson College Prep) have earned weekly honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference Women’s West. Ott has been named the conference’s Player of the Week for the third time in her career, while Léonard earned her first Rookie of the Week honor.
Ott exploded for a six-point weekend against the Red Dragons to open conference play. The senior forward started her week with a goal in Potsdam’s 3-1 home win on Friday. On Saturday, Ott played a part in all five of the Bears’ goals in their 5-1 victory at Cortland. She recorded her third-career hat trick, including the game-winning goal and two power-play markers, to go along with two assists for a career-high five-point day. The weekend gives her 93 points (54g, 39a) for her career, tying her with Annmarie Lewis ’12 for the program’s NCAA era all-time scoring record. Ott, also a shortstop for the Potsdam softball team, set that program’s all-time hits record last spring.
Léonard, a defenseman, recorded a breakout game on Saturday. The freshman assisted on four of the Bears’ five goals from the blue line in the 5-1 win. She now has five assists four games this season.
Potsdam (4-0, 2-0 ECAC West) hosts conference rival Buffalo State (3-0-1, 2-0 ECAC West) for a pair of games this weekend. The Bengals invade Maxcy Ice Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
