With just 44 seconds remaining in the middle frame, the Green and Gold grabbed a third extra man goal. This time it was Loren Gabel scoring, with Michaela Pejzlova and Mercer getting the assists.
Brown wasted little time in the third period, as the Bears scored 11 seconds in to break the shutout. However, that was all for the Bears while Clarkson was able to add two more goal. Kelly Mariani scored at 10:39 and then at 12:12, Vinkle scored what was the fourth power-play goal for Clarkson and the third goal of the game for Vinkle to complete her first collegiate hat trick.
Clarkson finished with a 47-13 advantage in shots. The Golden Knights went 4-6 on the power-play and killed both of Brown’s extra man opportunities. Shea Tiley played the first 40 minutes in net for Clarkson and made nine saves. She gave way to Jenna Brenneman, who played the final 20 minutes in her collegiate debut and made three stops. Monica Elvin finished with a line of 39 saves for Brown.
Clarkson will travel to Yale for a 3:00 pm game on Saturday with the chance to earn coach Matt Desrosiers 200th career win.
