SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women’s hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss against the Minnesota Whitecaps in exhibition play on Saturday at the War Memorial Arena in downtown Syracuse.
After a scoreless first period, the Whitecaps scored two goals within 24 seconds of each other to take a 2-0 lead in the second period.
Sophomore Allie Munroe put the Orange on the board in the third with a shot from a few feet out. The goal was assisted by senior Laurence Porlier and redshirt-junior Brooke Avery.
Sophomore goaltender Maddi Welsh started in net for Syracuse. She registered 26 saves in the contest. Earlier this season, Welch posted 27 saves against Bemidji State.
Syracuse and Minnesota will face off again on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Admission is free.
