FITZGERALD NAMED NWHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

New York Riveters’ goaltender Katie Fitzgerald has been named NWHL player of the week after blanking the Connecticut Whale last Sunday afternoon.

After a strong performance in Buffalo the weekend before, in which The Rivs brought three out of the possible four points home with them, Fitzgerald is clearly shown not just her metal, but also that she’s earned the number one spot between the pipes for New York.

In her last three games, Fitzgerald has faced 94 shots (28 in her shut-out) and only allowed six goals, for an excellent .926 save percentage.

The Illinois native and graduate of St. Cloud State University, Fitzgerald is no stranger to facing tons of shots as in her senior year she faced the second most in the league. All the while posting a season save percentage of .907 and GAA of 2.99.

Fitzgerald and the Riveters are back in action on December 3rd when they face the Buffalo Beauts in Newark.
