FINAL SCORE: Buffalo State – 7, Stevenson – 0
LOCATION: BSC Ice Arena – Buffalo, N.Y.
RECORDS: Buffalo State (5-1-1), Stevenson (4-5-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Garrett Chardon (Old Field, NY/Ward Melville) got the Bengals on the board 12 seconds into the game. Stevenson iced the puck just after the opening faceoff, leading to a draw in its own zone. Buffalo State’s Jake Rosen (East Amherst/Williamsville North) won the faceoff and slid it straight back to Chardon on the point who wristed it home through a screen in front to make it 1-0.
The Bengals struck again a little more than six minutes later. Buffalo State was applying pressure in the zone when Anthony Beaumont (Lester, PA/Interboro) won a battle behind the Stevenson net. He flipped it to Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) at the side of the net, who moved the puck to Hugo Petit (Chelsea, QC/CIH Academy) at the blue line. Petit then swung it across to his defensive partner, Nate Werhane (Arvada, CO/Ralston Valley) on the other side of the point. Werhane gathered the puck and found Passero behind the defense with a quick pass. Passero walked out in front of the net and ripped a shot that beat the goaltender to make it 2-0.

Buffalo State got on the board once more before the end of the first. The Mustangs were trying to bring the puck up the ice, out of their own zone, but as Stevenson hit center ice, Rosen played the body on his man and knocked the puck the other way. Rosen gained control, crossed into the zone and set up Petit with a one-timer that Stevenson turned away. Darren Young (Woodstock, ON/St. Mary’s) continued to crash the net though and put home the rebound in front to make it 3-0, Bengals.

Buffalo State added two more goals in the second. Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Center) scored a little more than eight minutes into the period and Chardon added his second of the game five minutes later to make it 5-0, Bengals.
Buffalo State outshot Stevenson 17-4 during the second period and 39-17 for the game.
The third was more of the same for Buffalo State. Michael Anthony Guerrera (Montreal, QC/Ontario Hockey Academy) found himself in the slot on the power play with 10 minutes left in the game and hammered home his shot to push the lead to 6-0.
Petit added an even-strength goal just one minute and 17 seconds later to give Buffalo State its 7-0 win.

Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling/Pawling) turned aside 17 shots to record his second shutout of the season, which moved him into second place all-time in Buffalo State history for career shutouts.
Chardon scored two goals and Young and Petit each recorded a goal and two assists while Rosen finished the evening with three helpers for the Bengals.
The victory was the fifth-straight win for the Bengals.

FOR THE FOES
The 17 shots on goal was the lowest total for the Mustangs this season, as Stevenson dropped its fourth-consecutive game.
The Mustangs finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play and are now scoreless on their last 10 attempts.
