ROCHESTER, N.Y.— Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) scored twice and Buffalo State skated to a convincing 5-1 victory over host Nazareth tonight in a non-conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius), Jake Rosen (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) and Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) also scored for the Bengals, and Darren Young (Woodstock, ON/St. Mary’s) had two assists.
Remers opened the scoring just 1:17 into the game with his fourth of the season.
Wood added his third and fourth goals of the season to push the score to 3-0 before the first intermission.
Passero netted his third of the year for the only marker of the middle frame, and Rosen’s third of the year on the power-play in the middle of the third expanded the lead to 5-0.
Nazareth finally scored with just 56 seconds remaining, as Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) conceded a goal for the first time in three games.
DeLaVergne finished with 27 saves in the win.
Buffalo State outshot the Golden Flyers 10-4 in the first period, but Nazareth held a 28-25 edge for the game.
FOR THE FOES
Brian Miller scored the lone goal for Nazareth.
Brandon Lane allowed four goals on 14 shots before being relieved by Andy Lee who stopped 10 of 11 shots he faced.
NOTEWORTHY
DeLaVergne’s school-record consecutive shutout streak came to an end at 203 minutes and one second.
