The Erie Community College hockey team had its eight-game unbeaten streak snapped by Canisius College with a 7-6 loss at HarborCenter, Nov. 27.
The loss leaves the Kats at 8-2-1 on the year and a half-game ahead of last year when the team was 8-3 after 11 games on its way to a national championship runner-up season.
Of Erie’s two losses this season, the Golden Griffs were the only team to beat the Kats in regulation – with Erie’s other loss suffered in overtime against Fredonia.
ECC had beaten Canisius just a day prior to the loss, 3-2, at Nichols School, Nov.26.
The Kats are still unbeaten in region play, however, with a 4-0-1 record. Erie’s next game will be against region opponent SUNY Broome, Dec. 3, in Binghamton at 3 p.m. Erie’s first game of November opened region play for the team with a 14-1 win against the Hornets.
The Kats next return home against the University at Buffalo, Dec. 11, at 3:30 p.m. at HarborCenter.
