SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College women’s hockey team fell at the hands of No. 8/8 Quinnipiac Friday night at Messa Rink.
The Bobcats found the back of the net four times on their way to a 4-0 shutout victory over the host Dutchwomen.
Quinnipiac netted goals in all three periods. Kenzie Lancaster broke the deadlock at the 12:30 mark of the first period as the puck bounced out to her in the slot as her wrist shot took a deflection before beating Union goalie Kate Spooner.
Spooner made 39 saves in the losing effort tying a career-high. She was unable to stop the Bobcats captain Emma Woods though at the 18:50 mark of the first as she snipped a wrist shot past Spooner high glove side.
Melissa Samoskevich tacked on the third goal at the 13:36 mark of the second and Lancaster netted her second of the game at 5:22 of the third period to round out the scoring.
Union is back on the ice Saturday as they play host to Princeton at 3:00 p.m.
