WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team fell, 3-1, to non-league opponent Brown Saturday night at Tate Rink.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
Army dropped to 7-6-1 overall as Brown improved to 2-8-0 on the year.
Zach Evancho kept the Black Knights in the game with a power play goal in the second period.
The goal was Evancho’s fifth goal of the year and third on the power play.
The assist came from Alex Wilkinson who recorded his third helper in four games.
Parker Gahagen made 32 saves to mark the fourth time this season that he has stopped over 30 shots.
After the game, the Cadets geared up on sleds to take on the Long Island Rough Riders for their annual tradition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brown opened the night’s scoring with a diving goal at the 10:21 mark in the first stanza.
After multiple penalties to both sides, Evancho broke the Cadets’ power play dry spell with a 4-on-3 goal in the second period.
Wilkinson was credited with the assist as he took the initial shot.
Brown netted its second of the night with under 4:00 minutes left in the second to push the Bears ahead 2-1.
Halfway through the third stanza, Gahagen went into a near split to stop the puck when the Bears had a one-on-one.
Ian Mansfield had a nice wrister, but it sailed just over the net which kept the Black Knights trailing 2-1.
The Bears then had a three-on-one breakaway, but Mike Preston stepped in and interrupted the play before Brown could even have a crack at Gahagen. This kept it a one-goal game heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
Michael Wilson got a decent shot off at the four minute mark, but Brown’s goaltender made a kick save to maintain the Bears’ 2-1 lead.
Brown went on to score on the empty net with under a minute remaining after losing the puck in the defensive zone.
