UTICA, NY – The Utica College men’s hockey team is ranked No. 8 in the first public release of the NCAA East Regional rankings published Tuesday by the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey National Committee.

This week’s rankings are the first of four regional rankings that will be released to the public and they will be used to determine both NCAA tournament bids and seeding. The final rankings will be determined on March 5, as the NCAA Committee will release its bracket for the 12 team NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Pioneers (17-7, 12-1 ECAC West) are now unbeaten in their last seven games and won their program-best 12th ECAC West Conference game this past weekend as they topped Stevenson and Lebanon Valley on the road. UC, which won its third conference title in the last five years, has now clinched a quarterfinal bye and home ice advantage in the upcoming ECAC Men’s West Tournament. Utica’s seven game unbeaten streak is the fifth longest active unbeaten streak in the country.
