12U Jr. Sabres Stay Unbeaten In Quebec

The 12u Jr. Sabres stay red hot in Quebec with a 1-0 win over South Shore Kings from Boston, MA. Kaleb Smith would score early in the 1st period on a back hand, top shelf shot in which would turn out to be the game winner. Despite spending most of the 2nd period in the penalty box Jr. Sabre goaltender Matthew Alberti turned away shot after shot to earn the shutout.

The team tied Team Slovakia 1-1 on Monday afternoon. With the team trailing 1-0 late in the 2nd Jr. Sabres defenseman Patrick Geary lit the lamp on a great shot from just inside the hashmarks. Austin McNicholas in net for the Jr. Sabres turned away several Slovakia chances to keep the score 1-1.

The team will now take on Honeybaked today at the Videotron Center in what will be a win or go home game. Honeybaked comes into the game sporting a 55-2-2 record on the season including a 4-2 win over the Jr. Sabres in September. “Honeybaked is a great team and will be a big test for us. Our boys have came a long way since we last saw them in September.” Co-coach Tom Gately said following the game today against South Shore.
