BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 20, 2017) — The second annual Police and Fire Hockey Tournament presented by Southern Tier Brewing Company (STBC) hits the ice at HarborCenter on Friday and Saturday. This year’s event features 18 teams of competitive police officers and fire fighters, competing in two divisions. Participating organizations include Amherst Police, Batavia and Genesee Police and Fire, Buffalo Fire, Buffalo Police, Hamilton (ON) Fire, Canadian Border Agents, Hamilton (ON) Police, Lackawanna Police and Fire, London (ON) Fire, Niagara County Sheriffs, Niagara Falls (NY) Fire, Niagara Falls (NY) Police, NY State Department of Corrections, Rochester (NH) Police, Rochester (NY) Police, and Town of Tonawanda Police.
The Police and Fire Hockey Tournament is highlighted by a trio of friendly rivalry matchups Friday evening on KeyBank Rink at HarborCenter:
4:30 PM: Town of Tonawanda Police vs. Amherst Police
5:30 PM: Buffalo Police vs. Buffalo Fire
7:30 PM: Niagara Falls Police vs. Niagara Falls Fire
Media outlets are encouraged to attend Friday evening’s games. Interview opportunities will be available with participants from local police and fire organizations and representatives from event sponsor Southern Tier Brewing Company.
All Police and Fire Tournament participants will be provided with a care package of merchandise from Southern Tier to thank these men and women for their service. STBC will also operate a beer garden on level seven throughout Friday’s games with food and drink for event participants.
Each team in the tournament will play two preliminary round games on Friday, and one on Saturday. Semifinals and Finals will take place Saturday.
