TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s hockey team has placed 17 student-athletes on the 2016-17 ECAC Hockey All-Academic team, the league has announced. Among Rensselaer’s honorees were junior Mike Prapavessis (Oakville, ON/Toronto Patriots) and sophomore Jesper Öhrvall (Halmstad, Sweden/Fairbanks Ice Dogs), who were selected to the Commissioner’s List, which is made up of the top scholars from each institution.

Senior captain Riley Bourbonnais (Rochester, NY/Lincoln Stars) was one of the four engineering majors from RPI, while the other 13 student-athletes are business and management majors. Five were recognized for the third time in their careers, including Bourbonnais and classmate Parker Reno (Edina, MN/Edina), while juniors Viktor Liljegren (Stockholm, Sweden/Fairbanks Ice Dogs), Drew Melanson (Paramus, NJ/Waterloo Black Hawks) and Prapavessis have made all three All-Academic teams in their careers.
