Girgensons Signs Two-Year Contract With Sabres

Forward Zemgus Girgensons signed a two-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $1.6 million.

Girgensons, 23, was a restricted free agent. He had 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 75 games with the Sabres last season.

Selected by Buffalo in the first round (No. 14) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Girgensons has 86 points (37 goals, 49 assists) in 277 NHL games, all with the Sabres. In 2014-15, he had 15 goals, 15 assists and 30 points, which all remain NHL career highs.
