Robert Morris is projected to repeat as champions of the College Hockey America Conference according to the league’s Preseason Poll released Tuesday morning. The Colonials received 5 of the 6 first place votes with Syracuse receiving the other.

In 2016-17, Robert Morris became the first school other than Mercyhurst to be crowned outright CHA regular season champions (Wayne State shared the title with Mercyhurst in 2007-08). They enter the new season ranked 10th nationally by the USCHO Division I Women’s Poll which was released Monday.

There weren’t too many surprises in the rest of the poll, as the rankings are nearly identical to how the teams’ finished in last year’s standings. The only exception is RIT, being projected to finish below Lindenwood.

Robert Morris – 5 first place votes – 25 points
Syracuse – 1 first place vote – 21 points
Mercyhurst – 17 points
Penn State – 11 points
Lindenwood – 8 points
RIT – 6 points

The 2017-18 CHA season kicks off this weekend with Lindenwood taking on No. 2 Wisconsin and both Robert Morris and RIT playing Ryerson in exhibition contests.
