BUFFALO,NY – BY RANDY SCHULTZ — When the Buffalo Sabres drop the puck on the opening of their 2017-18 NHL season Thursday night KeyBank Center, fans will experience action not only on the ice, but off of it as well.
Delaware North Sportservice unveiled new menu items earlier this week that Sabres fans can eat for the upcoming hockey campaign.
“When the fans come to KeyBank Center, they are always hungry and thirsty,” commented Michael Gilbert, Sr. Vice President of the Buffalo Sabres and General Manager of HarborCenter. “Delaware North has really come up with some great ideas for the upcoming season.
“There is a lot more going on with the fans when they come to the arena these days. Food is a big part of that.”
Executive Chef Stephen Forman added to Gilbert’s statements.
“We worked very hard during the off-season to come up with some new ideas for the fans to try this season,” said Forman. “There are a lot of new items for people to try and every level of the building.
“We want people to understand that we offer more than drinks, peanuts and pretzels. I think they will be pleased.”
Here is a list of a few ofthose items that can be found at the Concession stands:
THE ENFORCER (Italian sausage served in a Constanzo roll, topped with pulled Buffalo chicken, blue cheese slaw and ancho BBQ sauce).
NACHOS SUPREME (Beef barbacoa, lettuce, salsa, cheese, beans, queso fresco, sliced jalapenos).
BOLOGNA PO BOY (Served with slaw and Weber’s mustard).
COWBOY BURGER (Crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, fried onions, Guajillo BBQ sauce).
MOE’S HAWAIIAN BURGER (Grilled pineapple, pickled jalapeno and red pepper, peppered bacon, American cheese, Sriracha mayo).
TEXAS CHILI DOG (Served on a pretzel bun and topped with beef chili, jalapeno cheddar cheese, yellow mustard, onions).
MAC-AND-CHEESE STAND (Creamy mac-and-cheese, with your choice of BBQ pulled pork or teriyaki meatballs, and finished with crushed Doritos).
BURRITO STAND (Beef barbacoa or fire-braised chicken with cilantro rice and your choice of fillings and toppings).
STACKS STAND – ‘PANINI OF THE GAME’ (Pepper steak with provolone and cheddar cheese, Buffalo chicken, Caprese with balsamic, three cheeses).
ICE CREAM COOKIE SANDWICH (Your choice of Perry’s Ice Cream sandwiched between two warm chocolate chip cookies).
COTTON CANDY WAFFLE CONE (Your choice of Perry’s Ice Cream, served in a cotton-candy-wrapped waffle cone and topped with Pop Rocks).
