SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman Victoria Klimek scored her third goal of the season as the Syracuse Orange (1-6-1, 0-0-0) came up short against No. 9 Northeastern (4-3-1, 2-0-0), 5-1, Saturday afternoon at Tennity Ice Pavilion.

“I thought the team worked hard right to the very end,” said head coach Paul Flanagan. “They were pulling for each other and they competed hard. That will go a long way for what we want to do next week and moving forward.”

HOW IT WAS DECIDED
The Huskies took an early 2-0 lead in the first period but Klimek picked up a rebound off a shot by senior Megan Quinn and buried the puck in the back of the net to cut the lead in half.

Northeastern added two power play goals in the second and notched a goal in the third to extend its lead to 5-1. Freshman Jessica DiGirolamo had an opportunity to close the deficit for the Orange on a penalty shot but could not sneak the puck past the Huskies goalie.

OF NOTE
Klimek has now scored a goal in three consecutive games, tying sophomore Kelli Rowswell for a team-best three-game goal streak this season. All three of Klimek’s goals have come while on the power play.

UP NEXT
The Orange have a 13-day break before hosting Boston College at Tennity Ice Pavilion on Nov. 4. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m. and admission to all home games is free.
