WINTHROP, Mass. – Niagara sophomore defenseman Noah Delmas was named Travel Team USA Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the Atlantic Hockey Conference (AHC) on Tuesday. Delmas’ honor is the third weekly award for a Purple Eagle this season following Derian Plouffe (Player of the Week, Oct. 3) and Eric Cooley (Rookie of the Week, Oct. 10).

Delmas scored one goal and two assists in two games as the Purple Eagles split a two-game home stand with a 4-3 overtime win over RPI and a 5-1 loss to Union. Delmas scored his first collegiate goal in the RPI win on Oct. 20 and added an assist, four shots on goal, two blocked shots, and a plus-1 rating. Delmas tallied another assist on the power play Oct. 21 versus Union, extending his season-opening scoring streak to four games and giving the Purple Eagles a power-play goal in all four games to start the 2017-18 season.

Through four games, Delmas is tied with Johnny Curran for the Niagara scoring lead with five points (1+4). He is tied for eighth among all Atlantic Hockey skaters, and he leads the conference’s defensemen with 1.25 points per game. Three of Delmas’ five points on the season have come on the man advantage.
