Canucks Assign Chaput and Cassels To Utica

Utica, NY – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has assigned forwards Michael Chaput and Cole Cassels to the Utica Comets.

Chaput, 25, has appeared in four games for the Comets this season, recording two points (1-1-2) and six penalty minutes. Last season, the Ile-Bizard, Quebec native established career NHL highs in goals (4), assists (5), points (9) and games played (68) and won 52.7% of face-offs taken. Over the course of his career, Chaput has played in 250 AHL games and collected 158 points (61-97-158).

Cassels, 22, recorded two assists in three NHL preseason contests this year. In his second season of professional hockey in 2016-17, the 6-0, 184-pound native of Columbus, Ohio recorded 11 points (6-5-11) and 33 penalty minutes for the Comets.
