FREDONIA, N.Y. — Three goals in just over a minute and a 5-on-3 penalty kill were crucial to Fredonia’s 5-3 home win over Lebanon Valley in men’s hockey Friday night.

A pair of natives of Sweden played key roles for the Blue Devils (2-2-0). Freshman winger Victor Tracy (Albany, N.Y.), formerly of Stockholm, had two goals, and sophomore goaltender Anton Rosen (Orsa, Sweden) made 26 saves.

Junior winger Bobby Polachek (Kingston, Pa.), Tracy, and freshman center Josh Biasillo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) each had a goal in a span of 1:09 midway through the first period to chase Lebanon Valley goaltender Joel Eisenhower.

Eisenhower’s replacement, Tyler Perhac, kept the Blue Devils from scoring again until late in the second period. By then, the Dutchmen (0-2-1) scored two short-handed goals on the same penalty kill, by Russ Ambruster and Cole Hepler, in just under a minute to cut the Fredonia lead to 3-2.

Tracy scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 14:52 of the second period. It was his third goal of the season.

TJ Sneath scored for the Dutchmen early in the third period to again cut Fredonia’s lead to one goal, 4-3. Fredonia sophomore winger Ryan Dunn (Rockland, Mass.) completed the scoring when he scored into an empty net with 52 seconds remaining after Perhac went to the bench in favor of an extra attacker.

The third period also included Fredonia killing a 5-on-3 penalty, plus a penalty shot by junior defenseman Max Ross (Arvada, Col.) which he clanged off the post to the left of Perhac.

The Blue Devils return home Saturday night when they take on Chatham at 7 p.m.
