The Rochester Americans dropped a 3-1 decision to Laval, but with a Toronto Marlies loss, remain tied for first place in the North Division.

Colin Blackwell accounted for the only offense with his fifth of the season as Rochester was 0-for-5 on the power lay including a key four-minuteer in the second period.

“Honestly I don’t think it was too much about them and it was a little about us,” Hudson Fasching said. “We had a lot of chances tonight and played pretty well. We just had a couple of defensive lapses they capitalized on and that’s what the game came down to.”

Even with the loss, the Amerks have earned at least one point in 20 of its last 23 games. The squad travels to Toronto Friday night before hosting Laval Saturday for their fourth meeting in nine days (thank the schedule maker).
