Devils Sign Rochester, NY Native Phil Lane and Ryan Penny To PTO

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Devils announced that the club has signed forwards Phil Lane and Ryan Penny to professional tryout contracts. The announcement came from Binghamton Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

Lane, 25, was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the second round, 52nd overall, in 2010. The native of Rochester, New York has 31 points this season in 33 game with the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators. Lane has also played in one game for the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals and has a goal.

Prior to his professional career, Lane spent three seasons with the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League where he racked up 50 goals and 57 assists in 171 games. Lane served as the assistant captain in his final junior season.

Lane has 221 career games in the American Hockey League with Portland, Springfield, and Milwaukee, along with 59 games in the ECHL during the regular season with Adirondack and Atlanta.

Penny, 23, has 23 points in 36 games this season with the ECHL’s Reading Royals. During the 2016-17 campaign, Penny finished fourth on the Royals with 51 points (25 goals, 26 assists) in 72 games.

The Fall River, Novia Scotia native played 24 games in the AHL with the Binghamton Senators during the 2015-16 season and tallied two goals and three assists.
