GANGNEUNG, South Korea — Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.) scored and Maddie Rooney (Andover, Minn.) made 21 saves but the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team fell to Canada, 2-1, here tonight in its final preliminary round game at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
“We played extremely hard and put a lot of pucks to the net,” said U.S. Olympic Women’s Team head coach Robb Stauber. “We outshot a great team, and at the end of the day we needed to get one more. We believe this team is ready for a breakout.”
The U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team (2-0-0-1/W-OTW-OTL-L) will return to action Monday (Feb. 19) in the semifinals. Time and opponent is to be determined. The game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network as well as streamed on NBCOlympics.com.
