White Named NEWHL Rookie of the Year

POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey player Samantha White (Oceanside, Calif./Anaheim Lady Ducks) has been named the Northeast Women’s Hockey League’s first ever Rookie of the Year.

White ranked among the nation’s elite goaltenders all season. She finished with a 6-4-2 record, a 1.62 goals-against-average and a .943 save percentage. White was 21st in the country in G.A.A. and tied for 10th in save percentage. She was named conference rookie of the week three times during the year.

She is the second Bear ever to earn conference rookie of the year honors. Jordan Ott ’17 was named ECAC West Rookie of the Year at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season.

This year, Potsdam was 12-12-2 (4-10-2 NEWHL). The Bears tied the program single-season record for wins and earned their fifth playoff berth in the last seven seasons.
