St. Lawrence University senior forward Justine Reyes scored two goals, but Kirsten Welch scored just under three minutes into overtime to lead the Robert Morris University women’s hockey team to a 3-2 win over the Saints in a non-conference game in Pittsburgh on Saturdayafternoon.
Both teams moved to 1-1 on the season, as St. Lawrence won the first game of the series, 2-0, on Friday night.
“That was a hard fought weekend for our team,” said St. Lawrence head coach Chris Wells ’92. “The games will be just like this all year, so it’s good to have some close ones early to get right into it. We had a nice pace to our game early and late with some chances to win. Robert Morris did a nice job along the boards and certainly had a plenty of shifts from their defense, resulting in all three of their goals. They move the puck well in the offensive zone.”
