HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman goalie Hannah Lindey and the Oswego defense kept the Red Dragons off the board for two periods, making 24 saves during that time and thwarting two Cortland power plays.
In the third, the hosts put a goal on the board when they looped across the middle of the ice and put a shot into the upper right corner at 7:01 of the period.
Just forty-nine seconds later, Sara Cruise won a battle along the left boards and snapped a pass into the middle for Czerwinski. She fired a low shot just inside the right goalpost to tie the score.
The Lakers took control at 16:23 when Jean-marie Padden and Czerwinski broke out of their own zone on a two-on-one. Padden gathered the puck along the right board and fired a beautiful pass across the goal mouth to a waiting Czerwinski who finished to give Oswego the late lead.
Padden would add an empty-net goal with forty-four seconds remaining on an assist from Philomena Teggart, her first goal of the season and Teggart’s second assist on the night.
In all, Lindey made 28 saves on the night in earning the win and moving her record out to 2-0 on the season.
