Frontier/LakeShore/Orchard Park is leading the league with a 6-0-1 overall record after 7 games played as they come into 2019. FLOP’s Brooke Becker is in the top of the scoring list with 10 goals/5 assists for 15 points on the season.

However, Williamsville is in hot pursuit of the title with a 6-1-0 record and only 1.5 pts. behind FLOP. Williamsville has Emma Roland leading the league with 17 goals/14 assists for 31 points and in fourth is Vanessa Willick with 5 goals/8 assists for 13 points.

Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew and Monsignor Martin are tied for third place at 4-1-1 overall and 13.5 points. They are followed by Hamburg/Eden/West Seneca, Kenmore/Grand Island, Clarence/Amherst/SweetHome and in last place, our expansion team, Niagara County.

CASH’s Emma Faso, third in scoring, has also taken the number four position in League Scoring Leaders with 129 points.

Once again this year some outstanding goaltending, and exciting to watch, has been the to winning and losing. With the most minutes in the net is Annie Riek of Niagara County. Riek has seen 404.17 minutes of action, facing 310 shots and making 232 saves.

With the best save percentage at 1.00 is MacKenzie Walkowiak of LID and Kristen Heard, FLOP. Walkowiak has played just 10:13 minutes but faced 2 shots of goal and made them and Heard has been between the pipes for 30 minutes, facing 9 shots and making them.

Dylan Gorski has had two shutouts and has a 4-1-1 record with a .944 save percentage and 1.19 gaa.

Two games in December were postponed due to weather. The LID vs FLOP game has been rescheduled for January 9 and the CASH vs Monsignor Martin game is scheduled for January 4.

Three December games went to overtime with HEWS staying tied with Kenmore 3-3 on December 11; FLOP and Monsignor Martin playing to a 1-1 tie after OT on Dec. 13 and HEWS tying LID 1-1 on December 17.

A full schedule in January, playing games Monday through Friday, will lead to the playoffs for Section VI January 29 through February 4. That is followed by the NYSPHSAA 2019 Championship games on February 8 and 9 at HarborCenter. The WNYGVIF finals will be February 12-14 with the Championship game being held Feburary 14 at HarborCenter.

    Happy New Year everyone!
