ROCHESTER, NY – Forwards Jake Hamacher (Corona, CA/Dubuque Fighting Saints) and Will Calverley (Scarborough, Ontario/Chilliwack Chiefs) of the RIT men’s hockey team, earned Atlantic Hockey weekly honors on Thursday, for the week ending Dec. 30, 2018. Hamacher was named Player of the Week, while Calverley garnered Rookie of the Week accolades.
Hamacher, a sophomore forward, set a career-high with three points on two goals and an assist in RIT’s 8-4 win over Niagara on Dec. 15. He scored RIT’s first two goals in the opening period and had the primary assist on Gabe Valenzuela’s (Brampton, Ontario/North York Rangers) game-winning goal midway through the third period. It was Hamacher’s second two-goal game of the season. He is tied for third on the team in scoring with 13 points on six goals and seven assists.
Calverley, a freshman forward, scored a shorthanded goal and drew an assist in the 8-4 victory on Dec. 15. He assisted on Andrew Petrucci’s (Toronto, Ontario/Toronto Patriots) second period goal that gave RIT a 3-2 lead and scored an empty-net shorthanded goal with 3:27 left in regulation to seal the win. Calverley has five points on two goals and three assists in 16 games played this season.
