Potsdam Athletics To Host Montreal Canadiens Alumni

PPOTSDAM, N.Y.-The Montreal Canadiens Alumni will invade Maxcy Ice Arena for an exhibition game on Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m. The squad of former National Hockey League players will square off with a local team, the HabNots, consisting of friends of SUNY Potsdam.

General admission tickets are $20, but fans looking for a more personal experience can also buy VIP tickets for $50. Included with VIP tickets are a player meet-and-greet with autographs, light appetizers, cash bar and first choice of seats to watch warmups and the game. The VIP reception will take place at 1 p.m. The arena doors open for VIP ticket holders at 2 p.m. followed by general admission at 2:30 p.m.

Both general admission and VIP tickets can be purchased by contacting the President’s Office at (315) 267-2100. Tickets can also be purchased from local sponsors and HabNot players.

Over 700 players have competed for the Montreal Canadiens since they were established prior to the 1917-18 season. They are the winningest franchise in NHL history with over 3,300 victories, a winning percentage of close to .600 and their legendary 23 Stanley Cup Championships.

The Canadiens Alumni will confirm the members of their roster for the game in the weeks preceding the contest. Past players to compete for the Canadiens Alumni include Guy Carbonneau, Stephane Richer, Chris Nilan as well as many others and they have often been coached by Hall of Famer Guy LaFleur.
