The New York Islanders announced today that forward Anders Lee has agreed to terms on a seven-year contact.

Lee was named the Islanders captain at the start of the 2018-19 season, making him the 15th captain in franchise history. He scored 51 points (28 goals and 23 assists) in 82 games last season, finishing with his best plus/minus rating of his career, +20.

The year prior (2017-18), he hit the 40-goal mark for the first time in his career, also totaling 62 points, a career best number. Over the past three seasons, Lee is one of only 15 players in the NHL that has accumulated over 100 goals (102) and one of three US born players amongst the group. Thirty-three of those goals have come on the power-play, a mark that places him 10th overall in the league over the course of the last three seasons.

Through his six-year NHL career, Lee has totaled 258 points (152 goals and 106 assists) in 425 games. The Edina, MN native was selected by the Islanders in the sixth round (151st overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft.

Lee began his professional career with the Islanders’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, playing 59 games and scored 46 points (25 goals and 21 assists) over the course of the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He played three years of college hockey at the University of Notre Dame, scoring 116 points (61 goals and 55 assists) in 125 games.

Internationally, Lee has represented Team USA at three IIHF World Championships, scoring 17 points (10 goals and seven assists) in 28 games. He won a bronze medal in 2015 and 2018.
