ELMIRA ENFORCERS ANNOUNCE FIRST ROUND PICK FROM FPHL CAMP
by Jon Kliment
The Elmira Enforcers completed the FPHL camp and with their first round, second overall pick they picked Sherman Lovett.
Lovett played collegiate hockey for Dakota College at Bottineau, Illinois State, and University of Jamestown. Over his four years Sherman tallied eleven points during his college career, but was known as a solid stay at home defenseman.
Coach Brent Clarke ran the camp and had no doubt about his pick. “Lovett has good patience and makes good plays. He definitely fits the bill for us here in Elmira. After a run to the championship last year we recognized what we need to improve on and having a larger defensive corps is imperative to winning titles. Sherman helps add to that.” Coach Clarke said.
“Coaches were very good at communicating at the camp. Clarke seems to be a serious guy and he definitely pays attention to detail.” Sherman told media about his time at camp. “I stay between the dots and get the puck up quick. The forwards do the scoring and I want to make sure nothing gets by us.”
The Enforcers will be heading back to First Arena this year as they attempt to claim the Commissioner’s Cup in their second season.
