Bringing skill and versatility to the Metropolitan Riveters, 2019 RIT graduate Mallory Rushton has signed a contract for the NWHL’s fifth season that starts in October.
Rushton, who plays both forward and defense, completed her collegiate career ninth in RIT’s record books for games played (134). In 2018-19, she finished fourth on the team in points, with 5-10-15 in 35 games.
“Mal is a highly-talented player who will bring her determination and drive to the Riveters this year,” said GM Kate Whitman Annis. “She takes smart, calculated risks and is creative with her game. Her style of play will fit well with Coach Ivo Mocek’s plans for our team.”
A native of Amherst, Nova Scotia, Rushton earned College Hockey America All-Academic honors in each of her four years. Prior to RIT, she attended New Hampton Prep School and also played varsity soccer and lacrosse.
“I am very excited to get started with the Rivs this season and thankful for the opportunity to continue my hockey career professionally in the NWHL,” said Rushton. “I can’t wait to bring energy and passion to the rink every day.”
