U.S. National Under-18 Team Blanks Czech Republic in Five Nations Opener 
Drew Commesso makes 19 saves in 1-0 win
 
SUNDSVALL, Sweden – The U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the Czech Republic, 1-0, behind Drew Commesso‘s (Norwell, Mass.) second shutout of the season to win its opening game of the 2019 U18 Five Nations in Sweden.

Dylan Peterson (Roseville, Calif.) picked up the game’s only goal with a power-play score at 8:05 of the middle period. After Team USA possessed the puck in the offensive zone, Jacob Truscott (Port Huron, Mich.) slid the puck to Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas) at the blueline. The forward faked a shot and centered a pass to Peterson, who redirected his shot between the legs of the Czech goaltender.

Commesso turned aside all 19 shots from the Czech Republic as he picked up his fifth career shutout and fifth overall win of the 2019-20 season.Team USA finished with a commanding 32-19 advantage in shots on net.After an off day tomorrow, Team USA will play three games in three days over the weekend, beginning with a matchup against Switzerland on Friday (Nov. 8).
