TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners from men’s hockey and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Owen Savory has been named MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week for the second consecutive week.

A sophomore from Cambridge, Ont., Savory stopped all 37 shots he faced on Saturday, leading the Engineers to a 3-0 victory over Colgate. He made 18 saves in the second period and 12 in the third to help preserve the shutout – his second straight after stopping 25 last Saturday at St. Lawrence. Three of his stops came on the Raiders’ three power play chances.

The first RPI goaltender to record back-to-back shutouts since Jason Kasdorf ’16 blanked Harvard and Dartmouth on February 1 & 2, 2013, Savory becomes just the seventh individual netminder in program history to post consecutive shutouts in a season. Joel Laing ’00 did so three times, including twice during the 1999-00 season, while Bob Fox ’55 posted two in a row in both 1953-54 and 1954-55.

Savory has started 13 games this season, posting a 5-7-1 record with a 2.68 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. He has made 322 saves on 355 shots in 738:22 minutes, with two shutouts. A former standout with the St. Catharines Falcons, he is 4-5-1 with a 2.36 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in 10 ECAC Hockey appearances.

Through 38 career games at RPI, including 36 starts, Savory is 10-22-4 with a 2.54 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. Last season, he was a finalist for ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year and took home All-Rookie Team honors. He earned ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, as well as the team’s Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player and Freshman of the Year.

Rensselaer is back on the ice this weekend, when it travels to Brown and Yale on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm), respectively.
