Three members of the Hobart College hockey earned All-New England Hockey Conference honors as announced by the league office today. Junior defenseman Mike Faulkner was named to the all-conference second team and senior forwards Zach Sternbach and Lawson MacDougall garnered third team accolades.

The 2018 NEHC Co-Rookie of the Year, Faulkner receives all-conference praise for the second time. He earned a spot on the All-Rookie team in 2018. In 25 games this season, Faulkner has 20 points on a goal and 19 assists. He leads the team and is tied for sixth in the conference in assists. He is fourth in the NEHC in defenseman scoring, averaging 0.80 points per game. Faulkner recorded a season-high three points on three assists in Hobart’s 5-3 victory over Southern Maine on Feb. 7. He had a goal and an assist in Hobart’s come from behind victory over UMass Boston last Friday. Entering the NEHC tournament, Faulkner has points in five straight games.

In three seasons at Hobart, Faulkner has played in 75 games. He has eight goals and 43 assists for 51 points. Faulkner’s 19 assists and 20 points this season are a career-high.

Sternbach was named to the third team for the second straight year. A captain, he has played in all 25 games this season and is tied for second on the team with 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists. Sternbach recorded a hat trick in Hobart’s 8-3 win over Castleton on Jan. 24. He also had a three-point game on a goal and two assists in a 9-0 win over Johnson & Wales on Nov. 8. The next day, Sternbach added a goal and an assist against Suffolk and was named the NEHC’s Co-Player of the Week. He is credited with two game-winning goals this season. Sternbach has tallied a point in five of Hobart’s last six games.

Sternbach has played in 111 career games, recording 83 points on 40 goals and 43 assists. He is third on Hobart’s all-time list in games played.

A captain, MacDougall earns conference praise for the first time. Through 25 games this season, he leads the team with 22 points on seven goals and 15 assists. MacDougall notched a career-high three assists in the Statesmen’s 8-3 win over Castleton on Nov. 16. In the regular season finale against Babson, MacDougall scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in the 4-1 win. The previous day, he scored a goal and added an assist in Hobart’s 5-3 victory over UMass Boston. MacDougall was also credited with the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Potsdam on Nov. 23.

MacDougall has played in 101 career games. He has 83 points on 27 goals and 56 assists.
