Hailey Redders scored a goal and added three assists to lead the Nazareth Golden Flyers to an 8-0 victory over the Buffalo State Bengals Saturday afternoon in women’s hockey at the Buffalo State College Ice Arena. The win gave Nazareth a sweep of the two-game home-and-home weekend series, which opened up Friday night at Nazareth with an 8-1 win over the same Bengals squad.
Madison Nichols added a goal and two assists for the Golden Flyers, while goalie McKinley Huff stopped the four shots she faced in goal.
Nichols opened up the scoring for Nazareth in the first period at the 4:00 mark. The Golden Eagles added three more goals in the second to increase their lead, 4-0.
Emma Hayes scored at 8:45, Morgan Leuenberger tallied a goal at 13:14 on a breakaway with Redders rounding out the scoring for the period at 19:35.
Nazareth continued the scoring in the third period on goals by Nikolle Van Stralen at 6:33; Julie Holmes, 9:17; Sydney Swanson at 17:08 and Ivey Lyden at 18:35.
The lone bright spot for the Bengals was their goaltender, Sissy Harman, who stopped 56 of the 64 shots fired at her by Nazareth.
