WINTHROP, Mass. – Three goals, one assist and one victory later, Army West Point Hockey senior captain, Colin Bilek, is your Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week. The Michigan native’s hat trick performance netted him the third player of the week honor in his career and his first of the season. Sparked by Bilek’s offensive outburst, Army won its third straight game and has built up momentum as the team continues its Atlantic Hockey Schedule this weekend against Niagara (Nov. 19-20).
Bilek hit the trifecta on Friday night, scoring a power play, short-handed and game-winning goal all in the same night. This was the first time a Black Knight had accomplished the feat since Brendan Soucie did it against Bentley in 2018. It was the second hat-trick of his career, and first of the season for Army. Bilek now has 36 career goals to go along with his 33 career assists, which puts him second among AHA players on the active career goal scorers list.
The AHA Preseason Player of the Year now has seven points on the season thanks to four goals and three assists, which ties him with Anthony Firriolo for the team lead in all three categories.
This is Army’s fourth weekly honor second player of the week honor. Anthony Firriolo has earned both player and defenseman of the week awards while Noah Wilson also picked up a defensive player of the week award.
