AMHERST, NY – The Monsignor Martin girls high school hockey team scored a goal in each of the three periods of their hockey game and went on to defeat CASH (Clarence, Amherst and Sweet Home) girls high school hockey team, 3-0, in Wednesday afternoon WNYGVIH action at the Northtown Center.
Alexandria Franke, a sophomore from St. Mary’s Academy, opened the scoring for Monsignor Martin at the 3:36 mark of the first period. Mia Boyd, a senior from Sacred Heart Academy, assisted on the goal.
Grace Russo, a senior from Sacred Heart Academy, scored the lone goal of the second period at the 7:43 mark. It was unassisted.
Carys Popat, a senior from Narden Academy, tallied the final goal for Monsignor Martin at 8:29 of the third period.
Sophia Will, a senior goalie from Nardin Academy, recorded the shutout for Monsignor Martin stopping all 28 shots fired at her. MM had 20 shots on Kylie Paige, a sophomore from Amherst.
