Plattsburgh State’s Ivy Boric Repeats as NEWHL Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Junior forward Ivy Boric (Newport Beach, Calif./Anaheim Lady Ducks) of No. 1 Plattsburgh State women’s ice hockey has been named the Northeast Women’s Hockey League (NEWHL) Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. 

Boric, who earned the honor for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 21, continued her torrid play to start the season by tallying three goals on a hat trick (one game-winning goal), three assists, six points, seven shots on goal and a +7 rating to help Plattsburgh State to a NEWHL series sweep over SUNY Morrisville last week.

Boric had a career-best game on Friday night as the Cardinals’ won 8-0. She recorded her first career hat trick and two assists for a career-high five points and a +4 rating. Boric scored the game-winning goal at 3:04 of the first period. She then assisted on the Cardinals’ second goal that was scored by graduate student forward Annie Katonka (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Penguins Elite) at 11:41 of the first period, before scoring the fourth goal at 00:39 of the second period. Boric then assisted on the sixth goal of the game that was scored by senior forward Sara Krauseneck (Saginaw, Mich./Northern Cyclones) at 16:51 of the second period, Boric completed the hat trick by scoring the seventh goal of the game on the power play at 8:05 of the third period. 

In Saturday’s 9-0 Cardinal win, Boric tallied one assist and a +3 rating as the Cardinals extended their NCAA Division III women’s ice hockey record home-winning streak to 44 games. Her assist came on the Cardinals’ third goal of the game, which was scored by first-year defenseman Mattie Norton (Glen Carbon, Ill./St. Louis Lady Blues) on the power play at 12:38 of the second period. 

With her performance, Boric enters the week ranked fourth in NCAA Division III women’s ice hockey in points per game (2.67), tied with Krauseneck for fifth in assists per game (1.67) and tied for 12th in goals per game (1.00). The NEWHL leader in points (16), Boric has recorded at least one point in each game this season with five multi-point performances. 

This is the second NEWHL Player of the Week honor of Boric’s career.
