The Kenmore/Grand Island Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team was recognized for its sportsmanship by the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the National Ice Hockey Officials Association. This is the organization that officiates WNYGVIH Federation games.
This is the first year they have presented the award to one of the WNYGVIH teams, and they plan to continue it. The award is for the team that best exemplifies the characteristics of sportsmanship for its fair play and mutual respect among players, coaches and officials during the season.
The award is voted on by members of the Niagara Frontier Chapter of NIHOA.
In presenting the award, Coach Jeff Orlowski and his coaching staff and team captains were thanked for their sportsmanship leadership.
