CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Sophomore Tyler Watkins of the Union College men’s hockey team was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Watkins was a steady offensive presence for the Dutchmen in the weekend split with Princeton and Quinnipiac. The sophomore picked up the primary assist on Josh Kosack’s goal against Quinnipiac. Watkins added a goal of his own and an assist against the Tigers while registering a +4 on the weekend.
This is the third time this season a member of the team has been recognized with Rookie of the Week accolades. First-years Collin Graf (Oct. 18) and Caden Villegas (Dec. 14) were honored for their efforts against New Hampshire and Maine, respectively.
