ELMIRA, N.Y. — With the return of athletic competitions during the 2020-21 academic year, we are proud to introduce the first Elmira College Athletes of the Week, Jess Adams ’21 of women’s ice hockey and Adam Eby ’21 of men’s ice hockey.
Adams led all skaters with a game-high two points (1g-1a) in Elmira’s 4-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory over Nazareth College on Saturday at the Murray Athletic Center. The senior forward bookended EC’s 4-0 run in the second and third periods, notching the team’s first goal to even the score at 1-all and dishing out an assist on the game’s final goal. Nationally, the Holliston, Massachusetts, native is tied for fourth in points per game (2.00) following her standout performance against the Golden Flyers.
Eby helped the EC men split their season-opening series against Stevenson University. In a 3-1 win over the Mustangs on Friday, the fourth-year blueliner logged the best game of his collegiate career. Not only did he set new career highs in points (3) and goals (2), the victory marked the first multi-point performance for Eby since the first game of his freshman season. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania, product currently leads all defensemen in the UCHC in points and points per game (1.50).
Adams, Eby, and the rest of the Soaring Eagles return to the ice on Friday, February 26. The women’s ice hockey team is set for a road trip to Manhattanville College for a 2:00 p.m. matchup, while the EC men host Neumann University at the MAC at 4:00 p.m.
