(Rochester, NY) – The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Joey Mormina from the Syracuse Crunch in exchange for future considerations.
Mormina, 33, has played in 30 games with the Crunch this season, recording three points (0+3) and 24 penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-foot-6, 232-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, appeared in 54 games with Syracuse and registered 19 points (4+15) and 70 penalty minutes.

In 650 career AHL games with Manchester, Albany, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Adirondack and Syracuse, Mormina has collected 148 points (31+117) and 801 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 69 career Calder Cup playoff games, as well as one NHL game with the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2007-08 season. He was originally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round (193rd overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
