(Rochester, NY) – The Rochester Americans and Junior Achievement have teamed up with a Sports Management class at Brighton High School for a first-hand lesson on the professional hockey industry.
In addition to providing advice to students on such topics as interview skills, emerging technologies, personal brand, customer service and career goals, the students will also compete in a ticket sales contest utilizing skills learned in the Junior Achievement sessions. The Amerks and Junior Achievement are committed to helping future generations develop the skills necessary to embark on successful careers in the sports and entertainment industry.
“For many students, being part of a professional sports team is only a dream, and many don’t fully understand the opportunities beyond contributing as a player,” said Patricia Leva, President & CEO, Junior Achievement of Central Upstate New York. “JA is proud to partner with the Rochester Americans to bring a relevant and innovative sports management experience to our local students, opening their minds to the industry and the potential roles within it. Both in the classroom and on-site at a game, students will learn about the careers available right here in our community and the importance of this industry to our local economy, while also gaining the knowledge and skills critical to managing a successful sports operation. We appreciate the commitment of both the Amerks professional staff and players in preparing and inspiring the next generation to achieve their own version of the American Dream.”
