(Rochester, NY) – The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has partnered with Foodlink, Tops Friendly Markets and WROC-TV for the 10th annual “Food for Families” Food and Fund Drive on Friday, Dec. 9 to help those in need in the Greater Rochester area. Food and fund donations will be accepted at all Tops locations, with special events planned from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the following stores:

Greece (3507 Mt. Read Blvd., Rochester, NY 14616)
Henrietta (1225 Jefferson Rd., Rochester, NY 14623)
Penfield (1601 Penfield Rd., Rochester, NY 14625)
Irondequoit (999 East Ridge Rd., Rochester, NY 14621)

“We are pleased to be able to work alongside our partners in Foodlink, Tops Friendly Markets, and WROC-TV in supporting this very worthwhile initiative,” said Rob Kopacz, Vice President of Business Operations for the Amerks. “We encourage all of our fans to join us in helping those less fortunate this holiday season and thank them for their generous donations.”

Through the help of Foodlink, the regional food bank serving 10 different counties across the Rochester area, and WROC-TV, which will broadcast live from the Mt. Read location throughout the day, the Food Drive returns for its 10th straight year after collecting more than 60,000 pounds of food and over $23,000 in 2015. All the food and money donated will benefit local families in need.

“It’s fantastic to see so many of our dedicated community partners come out in support of this great event year after year,” said Julia Tedesco, Executive Director at Foodlink. “We thank the Amerks for their support, for volunteering at our distribution center and for helping spread the message that there are many people in our community in great need.”

Members of the Amerks front office staff will be on hand at various Tops locations between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. while The Moose will visit the Mt. Read store in support of the event beginning at 4:00 p.m. For every donation made throughout the day, the Amerks will give away a pair of ticket vouchers that can be redeemed for either the Dec. 14 home game against the Toronto Marlies or the Dec. 19 home game versus the Binghamton Senators.
