(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Americans announced today that the Amerks will host their second annual Amerks Street HockeyFest for kids ages 18 and under on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex, located in Brighton, NY, on the campus of Monroe Community College.
Registration for the street hockey tournament is now open on www.amerks.com/streethockey. The coed tournament is open to boys and girls ages 18 and under at a cost of $125 per team. Each team will consist of up to five players and will be guaranteed at least three games in the all-day, rain or shine event, which begins at 9:00 a.m. Every player will also receive an Amerks Street HockeyFest t-shirt and vouchers (five total per team) for tickets to the Amerks 2013-14 Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 4. Registrants of the tournament will also be able to purchase additional vouchers to the Amerks Home Opener at a discounted rate.
Registration for the tournament is open on a first come, first serve basis. The tournament will consist of five divisions based on USA Hockey guidelines for the upcoming season:
- Mite (birth year 2005 and later)
- Squirt (birth year 2003-2004)
- Pee Wee (birth year 2001-2002)
- Bantam (birth year 1999-2000)
- Midget (birth year 1995-1998)
Games will be played 3-on-3 plus a goaltender and one optional substitute on the parking lot surface at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex. Participants are responsible for bringing their own equipment, including sneakers, hockey sticks and gloves. Goaltender equipment is mandatory, while helmets are mandatory for mites and squirts. Additional protective gear is optional, but recommended. Each player will also need to complete a waiver prior to participating.

The second annual Amerks Street HockeyFest will take place during the Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex 2013 Summer Fest on August 17. The Summer Fest will also include a Locker Room Sports Hockey Expo, a Molson Icedome Senior 4-on-4 ice hockey tournament, free public skating, live music, kids activities and more. Bill Gray’s and Abbott’s Frozen Custard will be open inside the Iceplex throughout the day.
