(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed defenseman Nick Tuzzolino to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.
Tuzzolino, a 29-year-old native of Buffalo, has appeared in 40 ECHL games with the Elmira Jackals this season, recording 14 points (2+12) and 88 penalty minutes. He has also played in 11 AHL contests this season with Binghamton and Utica. Last season, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Tuzzolino played in 36 games with the Amerks, collecting three points (1+2) and 43 penalty minutes.
In 97 career AHL games with Portland, Lake Erie, Abbotsford, Utica, Binghamton and Rochester, Tuzzolino has recorded 13 points (6+7) and 135 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 340 career ECHL games with Alaska, Wheeling, Utah, Fort Wayne and Elmira, collecting 167 points (37+130) and 833 penalty minutes. He was originally selected by the New York Islanders in the seventh round (196th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
