Amerks Sign Goaltender John Muse To AHL Contract

(Rochester, NY) – The Rochester Americans announced that the team has signed goaltender John Muse to a one-year American Hockey League contract.

Muse, 27, split last season between the AHL’s Texas Stars and Charlotte Checkers, posting a combined record of 18-9-4 with a 2.52 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 37 games played. He finished the 2015-16 season as the Checkers’ all-time career leader in wins (63) and games played (125) over parts of five seasons with the club. In 145 career AHL games with Charlotte, Texas and the Portland Pirates, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, has compiled a record of 73-49-9 with a 2.62 goals against average, a .915 save percentage and seven shutouts. He has also appeared in 47 career ECHL games with the Florida Everblades and Fort Wayne Komets, going 25-14-2. In 2011-12, he led Florida to the ECHL Kelly Cup championship and was named the Playoff MVP after going 11-2 with a 1.78 goals against average and a .939 save percentage during the postseason.

Prior to his professional career, Muse played four seasons at Boston College, winning a NCAA National Championship in 2007-08 while starting all 44 games for the team that season as a freshman, then leading Boston College to another National Championship in 2009-10. In four seasons at Boston College, Muse posted a record of 89-39-16, including 21-2 in the postseason.
