(Rochester, NY) – The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Mike Aviani to a Professional Tryout.
Aviani, 23, has appeared in 11 contests with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL this season, where he currently ranks second on the team in assists (8) and third in points (11). The 5-foot-11, 194-pound forward began the 2015-16 campaign with the Everblades, notching 15 points (8+7) in 15 games before recording an assist over a brief seven-game stint in the AHL between the San Jose Barracuda and Iowa Wild. Aviani returned to the Everblades to close out the regular season, collecting a goal in the final eight games of the season.
Aviani makes his fourth stop in the American Hockey League, having earned one assist over nine career games for Charlotte, Iowa and San Jose.
Prior to turning pro, Aviani played five seasons of junior hockey with the Spokane Chiefs (WHL), where he amassed 205 points (88+117) in 266 career games. During the 2013-14 season, he finished second on the team with a career-high 38 goals and 81 points in 69 appearances.
